Our Mission
The mission of the Tobacco Free Kansas Coalition is to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use and addiction and to assist Kansans in avoiding the negative health and economic impact of tobacco use.

TFKC Strategic Plan & Correspondence

Kansas now has 36 cities with clean indoor air ordinances.  Many are complete ordinances that restrict smoking in bars, restaurants and workplaces.  In addition, Johnson County and Harvey County have resolutions that prohibit smoking in many enclosed public places and workplaces in unincorporated areas.

21 TASK Groups Receive Grant Awards
Tobacco Free Kansas Coalition would like to announce their latest round of TASK grantees. Grant projects will focus on implementing youth activities targeted towards tobacco prevention.  TASK is a statewide youth movement against tobacco.  Grantees were awarded up to $1,250 and will run January 12 through April 30, 2010. Kansas Youth Empowerment Summit was a huge success!
A youth tobacco prevention summit was held in Salina on the 14th of November at the Kansas Wesleyan University. The session began with youth leaders welcoming almost120 Kansas youth ages 11 to 18 to a celebration of youth efforts to reduce tobacco use by young people in Kansas.  The keynote presentation was provided by Chad Bullock, the 20-year old winner of the 2008 Teen Choice’s “Do Something” award. He focused on engaging youth in tobacco prevention efforts across the state of Kansas by showing what he had done and what other youth can do in their own communities to keep young people grow up tobacco free.   Click here for full press release.

  - 11,800 kids (under 18) become new daily smokers each year
  - $927 million in annual health care costs directly caused by smoking
